Dr. Ernest J Folk asked:
In the state of california is it legal to have a GPS device or a radar detector attached to your windshield with suction cups? I over heard sombody saying that you cannot have anything mounted on the inside of your windshield, is this true?

It is only illegal everywhere if it is in a commercial vehicle. Most states have restriction laws, meaning some will be legal, others will not be legal. You need to check the laws. You can get away with mounting something on the windshield as long as it is low and does not impede your vision out.

Yes it is simply because of the vision question. A cop won’t pull you over for it, but if you’re being pulled over for something else, it will be added to the ticket.
CA cops are using lasers now instead of radar. A detector is about as useful as hip pockets on a lizard. By the time you know he’s there, he’s got your speed. I know from experience.

What of the rear view mirror? State of California is a weird place, odd laws. It’s illegal to wear ear (hearing protection) plugs, but the state will give licenses to deaf people.

we have a laser detector…..when u get in the car, this ladies sweet voice says all the the things it checks….K-band….Laser…etc…..we have had it in the car for several months and haven’t had a problem yet. Go to a search engine and type in Calif. laws on radar or laser devices..
