If you have to be somewhere and you don't know where it is, the GPS will put you right at the door. Especially in residential neighborhoods where it is impossible to remember all the streets names. Radar detectors are not infallible and you can still get caught, especially with the laser ones. When they go off you are already had so fuh-get about it. Besides, are you a person that gets tickets on a regular basis? If so then get the radar and be at your own risk for a speeding and radar ticket.
