IF it get’s you to slow down, it’s doing it’s job.

Most radar detectors that work amazing are around 300
dollers, ones that are ok but work good are about 150. Since you bought one for 50 dollers my opinon would be that its not a good one and it might not work well, if i were you i would buy one at a minimum of 150 dollers, gooluck =)

Once that baby starts beeping it is too late! The technology is ever-changing and I am not sure you can stay ahead of the law with those things?

The Cobra is not one of the best but none are perfect. If you consistently speed, even with a radar detector, you WILL get caught. Many law enforcement agencies now use instant-on lasers. By the time your detector catches it, you’ve been caught.

They work but you still have to look

    Do they work..yes. But….

You will get caught if over the limit because by the time they warn you, you’ve been caught by Smokey. Wth the new technology law enforcement is using now, the odds are that you will have to pay the big BIG bucks to ensure you get the warning in time to slow down. My brother-in-law (the head of the Sheriff’s department of Contra Costa County (California)) tells me that the new lasers are so small a beam and so accurate that your entire vehicle would have to be covered with sensors in order to have enough warning time to slow down.

Does it make sense to exceed the speed limit? Only if you are an F1/NASCAR/etc. driver and even then you do not want to exceed the car’s or track’s limitations for conditions that permit any type of speed. I always strongly suggest you stay within the posted speed limits of the road. They are there for more than one reason…your safety, the safety of others, and exceeding those limits can get you limited with your permissions to drive a vehicle.

In California it is not a given right to drive (and I am pretty certain it is the same in all the other 49 states), it is a permission to drive providing you do so by following the rules of the road. Breaking the rules is for fools, idiots, and people who think cheating is the right thing to do. The last I heard about speeding – you do it and get caught, you can pay some fairly hefty fines. Let my brother-in-law and one of his staff catch you and Contra Costa County will be glad to accept all the cash you wish to pay for your tickets. Get enough tickets and you will lose your driver’s license – that is for certain!
