i got a cobra radar detector a few days ago. is it legal in fl? i used it a couple of times and it sometimes beeps when there is a cop around and it sometimes dont. does it detect all cops including undercover? i am not using this as a way to speed but as a safety precaution. could there be something wrong with my radar detector or no?

Safely precaution against what? You getting a ticket? That’s called you using it so you don’t get caught speeding.
By the way, not all cops have the radar on (a radar detector does…guess what…detects radar).

Florida DMV or highway patrol can tell you what’s legal. The radar detector will tell you when radar is being used, but it won’t tell you if there’s a cop around when they aren’t using radar. You might be tempted to get a police scanner for that, but know this, using a scanner in Florida is illegal unless you have a ham radio license. Some things like automatic doors will set the detector off, so when you drive near shopping centers you may get a few false alarms.

the cobra radars arent always that accurate but try this one it’s a legal radar detector and one of the best ones it’s the valentine one here’s the web site valentineone.com they have all the info, specs, and a tech line that will answer your questions .
