Technology and machinery has indeed come a long way. In this generation, both are part of every person’s lives. Aside from having the advancement in computers, machines like cars also made their own improvements. People today are coping up with their busy schedules especially when it comes to work. Sometimes their job becomes so stressing that there are days some people will wake up late for work. Like any other scenarios, when a person is late for work, it is inevitable that they go beyond the speed limit when driving.

States impose speed limits to car drivers in order to avoid unnecessary deaths caused by accidents on the road, but there are people who forgets automobile safety just for personal gain or because they enjoy the adrenaline rush of gaining speed.

In some states, road safety is very important that they post police cars on certain roads or streets in the city with the goal of detecting drivers who go beyond the speed limit. Today, the police uses different kinds of technologies to aid them in detecting over speeders. One of these is called speed cameras. The speed camera can easily detect cars that are over the speeding limit. Once caught, you will be charged with speed camera fines.

As mentioned, technology has come a long way, and with that people have created the so called cop radar or radar detectors. These detectors will help car drivers in determining if whether a cop is near their area. Once the cops are detected by the radar, the car driver can have extra seconds to slow down before the cops see him.

Many radar detectors are now sold in the market. As the police try to improve their methods of eliminating over speeders, other people also enhances their gadgets just to avoid the cops. For some people, it is good to have radar detectors so that they can avoid unjust traffic ticketing.

People have their own reasons why they install radar detectors in their cars, but in some states, they consider radar detectors illegal. Here, are some states that do not tolerate radar detector users.

Commonwealth of Virginia. Radar detectors are not allowed for use and are illegal to have in the car. The District of Columbia started to ban the use of radar detectors and radar jammers since 1995. The state of Illinois specifically regulated radar detectors in commercial vehicles of over 26,001 pounds. In New York, radar detectors are illegal for motor vehicles over 18,000 pounds and commercial motor vehicles over 10,000 pounds. The state of Connecticut cancelled their anti-radar law in 1998.
